Home > Bottle #1: Freedom

Original Bottle Carrier: MacKenzie
Current Location: Fruita, CO
Date: September 25, 2009

Story: I was born on Independence Day and—to the chagrin of my parents and most ex-boyfriends—it's had a lasting effect on me.   Americans can get in a car, bike, train, or bus, and go explore there's free time. And I take advantage of this opportunity every chance I get.

The below photograph was taken of me at Independence Monument in Colorado National Monument near Fruita.

Story: I understand and appreciate the value of drinking plenty of water, and the blessing it is to have plenty of it available.  To me, a Nalgene bottle is essential, and provides a bit of freedom to me - to always have water, the essential component of life, available.

The photo is at the barley elevators in Bountiful, Colorado, in the San Luis Valley, September 5.  Freedom #1!

Story: Like everyone, I have responsibilities. But when I'm dipping into an alpine lake, exploring the depths of a canyon, or cresting a pass, I'm overwhelmed by joy and a sense of freedom. As a writer and editor, I have a pretty flexible schedule and more freedom than most people to travel and adventure. It's something I prioritize, save up for, and appreciate. Every day.

This photo was taken Below the Rock of Ages Mine near Telluride, CO in early September.
