Bottle Carrier: Sheri
Current Location: Kittery, ME
Date: September 28, 2009
Story:
Our family received this bottle while on a hike in the White Mountains of NH.
Here is a quiet serene hideaway that epitomizes old New England. A tidal
inlet on the southern coast of Maine, that becomes a large sand bar at low
tide for playing on. Who needs electronic games and TV...great American
experiences are in our "backyard" waiting to be discovered!

Story: I am the original carrier of bottle #7. I took my bottle to a place
called Square Ledge at the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center in the middle
of the White Mountains, NH. I work as an outdoor instructor for the
Appalachian Mountain Club, and this is one of my favorite spots to
take my groups. It is a high ledge that overlooks the entire
Presidential Range. From this vantage point I teach my students about
geology, landforms, map and compass skills, and we can see the various
forest types and watersheds in the area. This place, the Presidential
Range, is my "home" for roughly 6 months of the year while I teach. It
is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Hiking in these
mountains, and utilizing them as a classroom are some of the most
freeing experiences for me. This place is special to me because it is
beautiful, and working here allows me to pass on conservation ideals
to the next generation. While at the top of the ledge, I passed my
bottle on to a family of four. They were excited to participate in the
RefillAmerica program. Thanks for the experience.
